Sri Danammadevi Temple is a fine old building built in the 12th century in the temple premises There is the Someshwara Temple, the holy husband of Mother Daneshwari, the Mallikarjuna Temple on the left of the Someswara Temple and the Veerabhadra Temples on the right between the Danamma Temple. Someswara temple has a big mandapam.
History and About:
Sharani Sri Danamma Devi was a follower of Jagajyoti Basavanna. Sharane Sri Danamma Devi is worshiped as an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. And Danamma Devi originally called “Lingamma” was born to Anantaraya and Shirasamma in Maharashtra in a small town (village) called “Umarani” in Jatta Taluk, 20 miles west of Bijapur District. Next, she moved to Kalyana, inspired by the Lingayat culture of worshiping Shiva. Jagajyoti Basavanna told her that she would be praised all over the world with the name “Danamma Sharani”. After this Lingamma is called Danamma. She started helping or solving people's problem in welfare. She moved to her family home after the welfare revolution, worshiping "Linga" to guide her life. She married Sangamnath, a devotee of Lord Shiva. Both the married couple came to Guddapur to live their lives and help the needy people i.e. "Dana". Hence she got the name "Danna-Amma".
Sri Someswaranath had a temple in Guddapur where Danamma used to perform his daily rituals and linga puja. Realizing the importance of certain group of persons became her followers and believed in her. She still performs many miracles showing her existence to those who believe in her. She always supports the citizens in distress, where her name is, no state of hunger or problems, she is recognized as Parvati or Adi Shakti's avatara (avatara). He always encouraged people to follow Guru-Linga-Jangam and offered lingadiksha to praise Lord Shiva that the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" guides us to a peaceful existence and soul. Each of her miracles is described in 108 names, by practicing them, we gain strength, confidence, get rid of our problems from Devi, Adishakti. Thousands of people visit the temple of the goddess to fulfill their wishes and worship her, also known as "Varadani Danamma".
Later she along with her husband traveled to Rameswara to spread the words and wisdom of Jagajyoti-Basavanna and build a temple. She went to the town of Kambe with her husband, the second Rajadhiraja Dore of Mandalika of the Chola kings went to know her miracles and praised her and took lingadiksha from her. After a day of blissful worship, while spreading prasada, she is considered to be united in the "Linga".After joyfully performing the puja, she becomes aikya in the "linga" while distributing prasada. Her body was turned into an idol, the kingdom of Mahadevaraja of the Yadava dynasty, Sainath Mandalik, is known to have built the temple of Danamma Devi. Her lifestyle was immaculate and pure, in the same way even now rituals and Mahapujas are conducted purely and cleanly. Every year we can see fairs during "Chatti Amavasya" and people can solve their problems with services.
A temple was built after she attained Maha Nirvana at Guddapur in present-day Sangli district of Maharashtra. Sri Danamma Devi is worshiped as the most powerful deity, having the power to fulfill any wish of her devotees and thus is known as 'Dana'-Mother
Devi.
