Savadatti Yallamma

  • Savadatti Shree Renuka Yallamma Devi

Savadatti is one of the oldest towns in Belagavi district of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is a famous pilgrimage center 78 km from Belgaum and 41 km from Dharwad. Savadatti taluk was earlier named as Parasagada. There are several ancient temples in Savadatti. One of them is the temple of Renuka Yallamma.

The fame of Renuka Devi, who resides in the Saptkollas of Savadatti Yallammana Gudda in Belgaum district, is immense. The field has become a conscious position from time to time. This place has Saptakolla, Saptagudda, Sapta temple. For this reason, it has the reputation of Yallammadevi who does not wake up. Devotees of all faiths are worshipers of Yallammadevi. A fair is held here on the full moon day. The fair is held every Friday, Tuesday and on full moons. Devotees go to the oil well before getting darshan of the goddess, finish their physical activities with the water flowing there and then drink the water of the oil well in the form of Tirtharupa.

Field Glory:

The oil wells do not dry up and gushes out of the rock crevices and surprises millions of devotees. Mahamuni Jamadagni Paramaveera Parashurama, the triveni confluence of anger, patience, and compassion, Matangi Gudi who helped everyone in their troubles, Eknath, Joginatha and their gurus Bhorakanatha temple, Ganapati temple Yennigund  and Mallikarjuna temple where Parashu gave Parashuram and Mallikarjuna temples are here.

A large number of devotees from the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu attend the Devi fair held here on the full moon of Banada. All over the field, the devotees who came to the hill can see a crowd of devotees carrying the goddess and shouting victory. The rural people can still see the bulls that are buried in the chakkadi as per their tradition. Devotees make offerings of five dishes to the goddess. The scene of women cooking Kadabu and Holi by putting three stones in the place of the fire and setting up the stove is seen everywhere. As the years go by, this fair is getting more popular and Devi Yallamma is gaining fame as the mother of all.

Nestled on a hill in Belgaum district of North Karnataka, it is surrounded by beautiful landscape. Quite a large temple, especially crowded with pilgrims from all over Karnataka.

October-February is usually the festival time at this temple.

This 16th century temple was built by the Chalukya and Rashtrakuta dynasties.

There are shrines of Ganesha, Shiva and Parushuram in the complex.

Parusurama was the son of Renukadevi who killed her on his father's orders and brought her back alive as a boon from his father.

The temple has a long winding staircase up and down and across to reach the main temple.

A must see pilgrimage destination in North Karnataka.

Thank you to all.
